Fo Ya Shi - Buddha Tooth Relic Temple @ Chinatown, Singapore

You can call me 'superstitious'. Yes, I admit that I love to pray, I love to visit temples.......
As I mentioned in one of my old posts, I go to temple whenever I stay in SG for weekend. Why? Maybe because I did not put any Buddha's statue in my room, and I feel guilty for not praying. Back home in KL, I used to pray daily. At least once before I go to work.
Visited Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown weeks ago, while I was waiting for Chloe to do her medical checkup. I only took photos on the structure of the building. Did not take photos of any statue because I believe that considered not paying 'respect' to the Buddha. There are a lot of different statues in the temple, and they are all 'Gold coated'. The temple is air-conditioned, and joss-sticks are not allowed in the temple. You can only offer the joss-sticks before entering to the temple hall.

"The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum is a living cultural monument in the heart of Chinatown housing what Buddhist leaders regard as the Sacred Buddha Tooth Relic in a magnificent Relic Stupa composed of 420kg of gold donated by devotees. Everyday the inner chamber will be unveiled at stipulated timings in a ceremony conducted by resident monks and the public can view the Relic Stupa."

    Hi Josephine,

I find Buddha Tooth relic temple, which is air-conditioned, sleek and tidy is really more for tourist attraction than a temple.

However, I enjoy going to the temple as it is one of the most wonderful temples around in Singapore!
